CSV Data Connector

CSV files are structured files where the rows are recorded in lines, and column values are separated by commas. You can create a CSV file in Excel, Google Sheets, with Python, R, or any number of other tools. CSV files must have their heading names in the first row. Follow the steps below to connect a CSV file to your workspace.

  1. From the Home Dashboard on your workspace, click on the Data tab, then click on CSV File CSV File
  2. On the CSV Connection page, you can enter the URL of a CSV file on the internet or upload a file from your computer. Whenever possible, we recommend you enter the URL of a file on the internet, since you'll be able to keep the data from that file refreshed on the system. Currently, the Apteo platform doesn't support refreshing data from uploaded CSV files. In this guide, we'll enter the URL of a publicly available CSV file, and we'll also enter an optional name for the dataset. Click Continue to connect the CSV file. AWS Redshift Connection Screen
  3. On the next page, you'll see a brief loading screen while data is connected. CSV Extract Data Screen
  4. When your data has been loaded, all members of your workspace will receive an email and you'll be able to see it all on the resulting page CSV Data Table

That's it, you're all set! You can now start visualizing, analyzing, and predicting your data.

Data Types Will Be Inferred When Connecting a CSV

When you connect a CSV file, our system will attempt to infer the type of data that is stored in your columns. Based on the values, we will coerce any data to the inferred type as long as more than 90% of the values of that column match the inferred type, and any values that are not able to be coerced to the specific data type will be discarded.
